FUE Hair Transplant

One of our staple hair loss treatments, FUE transplant surgery is a minimally invasive option which demands a high level of skill and precision in achieving the perfect, aesthetic finish.

With a low recovery time and natural results linked to women and men’s FUE hair transplant surgery, it is one of the most popular treatment we offer here at the Skinoza Hair Loss and Hair Transplant Clinic.

FUE stands for Follicular Unit Extraction – extraction of the hair follicles in individual grafts, to present a natural and minimally invasive transplant technique. The process involves the extraction of healthy follicles from what we call a donor site, to those areas where the hair is thinning or falling out in chunks. By using the clients own hair, the results are incredibly natural and, when completed with precision and care, can mimic the natural growth of hair seamlessly.

Each graft will usually contain between one and four hairs, which will be sourced and obtained from those areas of the scalp where the healthy is at its healthiest and most dense. These sources are typically around the back and sides of the head, with thinning most often seen on and around the crown of the head.

Once the graft, or follicular unit, has been sourced and extracted, it can be surgically inserted to the area where the hair is thinning or has fallen out completely.

what’s the difference?

FUE vs. FUT hair transplant

FUE hair transplant surgery works on individual extraction, removing hair follicles in units of between 1 and 4 hairs and then transplanting them to the affected area of hair loss or thinning. The FUT hair transplant procedure removes a strip of the scalp and its hairs, before separating the follicles and then transplanting them to the receiver area.

treatment explained

How does FUE work?

Our FUE treatment starts with a consultation between yourself and one of our experts at the Skinoza Hair Loss and Hair Transplant clinic. Through discussing your concerns and ideal outcome, we will help you to identify the best treatments for you – before progressing with your chosen method of hair transplant and recovery.

Before we move into the extraction and treatment itself, FUE surgery starts with the identification of a donor site. This will typically be around the sides of the scalp or down the back of the neck, as these are areas where hair follicles are considered to be at their healthiest. We then progress to the extraction.

FUE requires the extraction of individual hair follicles, or units, via local anaesthesia. Each extraction uses a micro surgical extraction instrument which helps us to achieve the ultimate precision while leaving almost no trace of the procedure on or around the donor site.

Your surgeon or practitioner will then use a micro surgical needle to puncture the scalp area which is receiving the donated follicle; again, using high level precision and care to ensure that the punctures will accept and allow the new hair follicles to grow at a natural angle. This involves considering the density and angle of each hair follicle as it is inserted into the scalp.

The hair grafts are then inserted one at a time into the incisions which have been created, typically at a 40-45 degree angle to ensure that the hair growth falls naturally and in line with the rest of your hair.

treatment benefits

FUE hair loss treatment

In a comparison of FUE and FUT hair transplant surgery, FUE is often more popular with clients purely because it does not take as long, and it offers a far lower recovery period due to the minimally invasive nature of the procedure. This is because the extraction of the follicles and transplant to the new site is virtually painless, with hardly any post-surgical pain or discomfort experienced by the majority of clients.

minimal scars

FUE hair transplant also leaves only the most subtle of rounded scars in the donor site, which will fade over time. Best of all, FUE hair transplant uses your own hair as part of your treatment and ensures that the end results are completely natural and made to last.

permanent solution

FUE hair transplant surgery is a permanent solution which supports natural growth of hair, transplanted from the healthiest parts of your scalp to add extra volume and density to areas where the hair may be thinning.

suitable for different areas

Clients should note that FUE hair transplant is also available as a beard transplant procedure, again using hair follicles from a donor site to help create a more natural density of growth across the jawline. Eyebrow transplant is another treatment which can be achieved with FUE.

FAQs about FUE

FUE hair transplant involves the extraction of hair follicles from a donor site where the hair growth and follicles are healthy and strong. These extracted hair follicles are then transplanted into sites where hair is thinning or falling out – restoring a natural density and healthy condition to the hair.

This depends very much on you and your lifestyle, as the FUE hair transplant procedure can be completed by our experts in one big session or in a series of smaller sessions. This means we can work around you, and make sure that you get the results you want in a treatment block which best suits you.

We offer small FUE transplant surgery as well as bigger and more extensive treatment, with a small procedure typically using around 200 extracted grafts for minor hair thinning, while a full blown hair loss treatment can take between 2,500 and 3,500 grafts.

FUE hair transplant is a permanent solution. Clients will likely notice some shedding in the weeks after the treatment procedure, however the growth will be completely natural.

Our FUE hair transplant service can be used for hair loss and thinning across the scalp, beard, eyebrows, and body.

Our team at the Skinoza Hair Loss and Hair Transplant clinic are dedicated to matching clients with the right treatment for them. To be eligible for FUE and to achieve the best results, you will need to have healthy hair growth around the back and sides of the scalp. The condition of your hair can also be a factor in ascertaining how successful the surgery will be. These are all things that your clinician or surgeon will discuss with you prior to treatment.
